Eating in a small family Thai restaurant, my server, a sixteen year-old girl, noticed that the electric sign in the window wasnt working. She fiddled with it for a minute, and when she couldnt get it to turn on, she went into the back to tell her parents. They shouted something in Thai at her, and she came back out to try her luck with the sign again. Still unable to get it working, she returned to the kitchen, sparking a loud argument in Thai. This time, all three of them came out to deal with the sign. Her parents, who had apparently forsworn any contact with electricity, watched like foremen as she went through the rituals of flipping the on/off switch, unplugging the sign and plugging it back in. As she felt around the top of the sign, the whole thing came crashing to the ground, shattering into several pieces. Her parents bust out laughing, and took turns trying to swat her in the ass as she giggled and scurried back to the safety of the kitchen.
