Eco-Driving starts before you drive: Good Maintenance is Key! USE THE RIGHT OIL. Through regular oil changes and using the right oil for your car, you can extend engine life and improve fuel efficiency by up to 2%. Check your owner’s manual to find the manufacturer’s recommended grade of motor oil. CHANGE FILTERS. Replacing dirty air and oil filters improves gas mileage and prevents engine damage, especially on older vehicles. INFLATE TIRES. Keeping tires at proper PSI levels improves gas mileage by up to 3.3%. The proper tire pressure (PSI) for your vehicle is usually found inside the driver’s side door or in the owner’s manual. Check your pressure at home or at a service station with a tire gauge. TUNE-UP. Getting a tune-up on your car can increase gas mileage by 4%. Fixing a serious maintenance problem, such as a faulty oxygen sensor, can improve your mileage by as much as 40%. Regular maintenance really pays off!
