Editorial Note: Today is Thursday, January 15, 2015. What are you doing? We would really like to know. Its been less than a month now since we fired up this publication. We have been excited by the growth we have experienced. In approximately three weeks we have had 160 NEW people LIKE our page from throughout Michigan. This now gives us a readership of over 7100 people engaged in some aspect our our industry. We have tried some things that have met with more success than others. We see that you enjoy reading about Michigans film industry. Thats positive. We are going to continue to bring you news on Michigans film industry, and not just on the perspective of Michigan hosting Hollywoods visit to our state. We want to seriously develop a magazine based on what you as Michigans film industry are doing. This is your magazine. We want to know what you are doing. While we are going to continue to offer articles on the history of Michigans film industry, this in articles which we are going to call M(ichigan)M(ovie)H(istory). Yes, Michigan has made a serious contribution in Hollywood since the birth of the silver screen. Some of Hollywoods biggest names have roots that extend quite deep into our states fertile soil. This includes actors, actresses, directors, screenwriters, and many others. While you may be able to readily rattle off some names, you will be surprised at precisely how many individuals have started here. Also, we are going to offer the back stories on the movies which have filmed here since the 1940s; the movie palaces which once were scattered throughout the state, etc. Also, there have been some big names who have recently made the news who have roots in our state. These people have been awarded Golden Globes, etc. Others who are excitedly appearing in movies yet to be released, etc. As news becomes available we are going to share these stories with you. These stories will have a Michigan Connection. You will want to watch for these. As we are your magazine, we are all about you. We want to know what you are doing in relation to Michigans film industry. Although you can certainly submit stories on whatever you are doing in Michigans film industry ANY DAY of the week, we are are going to designate Monday and Thursdays as the days in which we are going to spotlight your creations. We want to see them. Post your films, film clips, trailers, etc. here on Monday and Thursdays. Include information awards, reviews, articles, influences, etc. on what you are doing. Or what you have done. Tuesdays and Fridays we are going to focus on news on film related events which you are promoting. This can be of any nature. Whether you are promoting film festivals, film series, symposiums, series, lectures, auditions, etc. we are going to devote these two days to your events. You can always submit stories any day of the week, but we are going to make these two days special for you and your events. We are also excited to announce that we have arranged for guest columnists to share their ideas with you regarding everything film related. This will include their ideas on every aspect of film making and distribution. These are people who are actually in the business. They have been and they offer their ideas on Film making, Finance, Packaging, Markets, Sales Projections, Conventional Distribution, and VOD/Digital/DIY Distribution, among other things you will want to know about to not only make your own movies, but to ensure your success in this rapidly changing industry.
