Edo Govt. woos core science teachers with 40% incentive The Edo Government on Friday in Auchi, Etsakor West Local Government Area of the state, said it had advertised for core science teachers in its secondary schools. Gov Adams Oshiomhole said this when he presented a 33-seater Coaster Bus to Islamic scholars in charge of the Annual Qu’ranic Competition at the palace of the Otaru of Auchi, Alhaji Aliru Momoh. Oshiomhole said unless attention was paid to education, the potentials in youths in the state would not be realised. ``In view of this therefore, I am happy to announce that we have started advertisement for teachers who can teach core science subjects. ``We will pay them 40 per cent more incentives”, he said. He also said that government would remain focused and ensure that the Edo child remained in classrooms conducive enough for learning. He also assured that in spite of challenges in the state, government would continue to work for the benefit of all. While lauding the organisers of the competition, he stressed that government would support the tenets of any religion provided it was in line with the mandate of government. He noted that although he had reservations on government sponsorship of pilgrimage, he was not against the establishment of religious facilities to promote good moral training and discipline. He, therefore, said government would support the establishment of Aishetu Oshiomhole Islamic Centre in Auchi. The governor said that nobody could appreciate the power of prayers better than leaders. He thanked the Muslim community for their prayers for a peaceful and more united state adding that such prayers had remained invaluable to his administration. Earlier, the Otaru of Auchi, Momoh, thanked the governor for his contribution to the yearly Quranic competition and the provision of the bus. He noted that the bus would in no small way help in easing the transport problem of the Islamic scholars and their students. He said that the Muslim community had concluded plans to establish the Aishetu Oshiomhole Islamic centre named after the governor’s mother. He also commended the governor on the recall of the 936 teachers earlier dropped by the Edo government for various reasons. He praised government’s decision to stop the competency test for teachers
