EducationUSA Student Ambassador POSITION TITLE: EducationUSA Student Ambassador POSITION DESCRIPTION: The EducationUSA Student Ambassador is responsible for cooperating with a Peace Corps Volunteer or other American, promoting the network of EducationUSA Advising Centers in the regions of Armenia, and working with a worldwide team of regional coordinators and advisers who are part of the EducationUSA network, supported by the Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA). The EducationUSA Student Ambassador serves an integral role in promoting the services of EducationUSA Advising Centers throughout Armenia. In coordination with their host organization, primary responsibilities include developing and maintaining contacts at schools, universities, educational and other relevant organizations; delivering lectures and presentations on higher education opportunities in the United States and the services of EducationUSA; and assisting prospective students to connect with each other through social media and events. The EducationUSA Student Ambassador reports to the EducationUSA Adviser. RESPONSIBILITIES: Identify Peace Corps Volunteer or other American partner who is willing to cooperate in implementing the Student Ambassador Program. Identify host community and venue for the Student Ambassador Program (preferably the Student Ambassador’s home community). In cooperation with EducationUSA Adviser, identify schools and universities whose students will benefit from the project about higher education opportunities in the U.S. Coordinate outreach with institution contacts or student groups, including time, location, advertisement, etc. Use provided materials to prepare for and deliver a series of ten lectures on the process of applying to U.S. universities, modifying the curriculum and themes to fit local needs and areas of interest. Develop the SAP project social media presence in coordination with EducationUSA Adviser and other EducationUSA Student Ambassadors. Report weekly and at the end of the program to EducationUSA Adviser (collect event highlights, photos/video, student successes, etc.). Assign follow-up and check progress of students involved in the events. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or in last year of studies Fluent in English and Armenian Knowledge of and interest in U.S. higher education opportunities. Demonstrated commitment to international education and cultural exchange. Preference will be given to applicants with experience with the U.S. educational system and/or U.S. Department of State educational exchange program(s). Preference will be given to applicants working or studying in the above-mentioned regions. Cross-cultural skills, especially in the area of communication. Experience in and excellence in public speaking. Ability to forge and develop connections and work cooperatively with partners and stakeholders from various sectors including higher education communities, government, and private companies. Excellent time management, planning and implementation, analytical, and computer/internet skills High level of attention to detail. Willingness to travel.
