Educational Directions, Inc. welcomes our newest Consultant, Matthew A. Hart. Matthew brings more than 17 years of experience working with adolescents in therapeutic settings. Matthew began his work in therapeutic education at the Academy at Swift River as a teacher and residential staff member. While at Swift River, he served in a variety of capacities in both the educational and residential departments: Teacher, Advisor, Associate Director and eventually Academic Director. Because of Matthews broad experience at this and other therapeutic institutions coupled with his ability to understand and support a student’s individual needs and growth, Matthew has found great success and enjoyment working with students and their families. Matthews career in therapeutic education eventually lead him to the position of Headmaster and CEO of Greenbrier Academy. While at Greenbrier, he helped the school grow from a handful of students to a thriving program that supported the affinities of its students while also providing strong clinical and academic programming. Throughout his career in therapeutic education he has been instrumental in the development of educational practices and methodologies that are student centered and that support both the therapeutic and academic growth of each individual student. In more recent years Matthew left therapeutic education to work with students with learning differences. As an individual with dyslexia, Matthew has a personal understanding of the frustrations that many talented students with a learning difference may experience. Matthew has worked in the classroom and residential settings with a wide range of students with LD, ADHD and ASD. He served as teacher, dorm parent and Dean of Students for Linden Hill School; and prior to joining Educational Directions, Inc. Matthew was an Associate Director of Admissions for Landmark College. Matthew has also served the public school system by holding seats on school boards on both the local and regional levels. He has joined Educational Directions, Inc. to help guide students and families in school placement both for students with Therapeutic needs and for students with learning differences. Please take a moment to welcome Matthew to Educational Directions, Inc., and to the IECA consulting family! Marilyn F. Engelman, Ph.D., Director Eileen Antalek, Ed.D., Associate Director
