Educators are arguably (or just accept the truth) the most - TopicsExpress

Educators are arguably (or just accept the truth) the most important part of society. Often you think educators as teachers in the classroom but they are so much more than that. Educators are the compasses that guide us throughout our lives by the lessons they teach us or the advice and support they so readily offer. They are the teachers, counselors, advisors, staff members and secretaries who get to know you and connect with you on a level much deeper and far more important than what you get in a standard class lecture. This is what makes the higher ed experience so critical to not only an individual but all of society. At NOVA, I have had the chance to connect with several faculty members on this level and that is precisely why I have had such a positive experience there. I felt an overwhelming amount of sadness today when I found out an advisor I have gotten to know over the course of this year is moving to another school, across the country. It hasnt even been a full year of working together but I know all of what she gave and taught me will stay with me for a lifetime. Anyway, I am just so thankful for the educators I have had in my life, past and present. Im also eternally grateful for the opportunities Ive had to try and be an educator myself, through working at City Year and Congressional. I hope maybe after reading this really long post, you take the time to reach out and thank those educators who have impacted you. We all have them. They might not even be from the school setting but we have them. So reach out to them and let their impact me felt on their side a little bit. «3
