Effurun-Otor Bridge ‘ll Get Govt Attention Soon, Says Utuama. BY SAM DUVWODE DELTA State Deputy Governor, Prof. Amos Utuama, SAN, has assured the people of Effurun-Otor kingdom that government would look into their request and ensure that the six Kilometre uncompleted Effurun–Otor bridge will soon receive the attention of the Delta State Government. Prof. Utuama, who made this known at the Palace of His Royal Majesty, Eyareya J. Oghenejenavwo, the Orovworere of Effurun-Otor Kingdom on a courtesy call, asserted that the bridge, when completed, would further alleviate the suffering of the good people of Effurun–Otor and neighbouring communities which is the hallmark of the Dr. Uduaghan led administration transportation agenda for all Deltans. According to him, the project ought to have been completed in the early part of this administration but for a major unrest in the area, before now stressing the need for all parts of the State to embrace peace at all times as a nation divided against itself cannot stand. In a key note speech, His Royal Majesty, while commending Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan and his deputy for their doggedness in the quest for infrastructural development of the State, enumerated the multifarious benefits of the bridge when completed to his subjects and neighbouring Kingdoms and appealed to state government to make good its promise. The traditional ruler, who in company of his chiefs, elders, women and youth groups, showered encomium on the deputy governor for being such a good leader of the people and pleaded that the bridge linking Effurun-Otor with other towns such as Ovwor, Okpare, Otu-Jeremi, Gbaregolo and many other communities if completed by the government, which the community argued, would be of immense benefit to the communities. He noted that the Effurun-Otor bridge was formally awarded by OMPADEC to DOFFAS construction LTD in the early 90s but was abandoned.
