Egg whites, oatmeal, protein powder, and some sort of fruit, a - TopicsExpress

Egg whites, oatmeal, protein powder, and some sort of fruit, a commonly held healthy breakfast by many, but in reality a terrible breakfast choice. Terrible for energy because of what type of neurotransmitters it results in, such as serotonin, and terrible for body composition because of its impact on insulin. You dont want insulin elevated too high in the morning due to cortisol also naturally being high in the morning, this results in a much greater chance of fat storage. Instead protein and fats with little to no carbohydrates is a much better choice for breakfast for most people, save the carbs for later in the day such as after your workout or in the evening. Post workout or in the evening is a much better time to consume carbohydrates because you can then benefit from neurotransmitters such as serotonin to help you wind down, and from a body composition perspective when you consume carbohydrates either post workout or later in the day you are much more likely to store those carbohydrates you consume as glycogen in the muscle cells instead of storing them as fat.
