Eisenhower’s Death camps: Unlike the Soviets, the Allies (and Germany) had signed to the Geneva Convention in 1929, but by calling the German POWs “disarmed enemy forces” they had now found a way of avoiding the rules. The British, French and Americans blocked attempts by the International Red Cross to inspect the camps across Germany. Eisenhower’s treatment of prisoners in the “Rhine meadow camps” has only recently come to light. It is now estimated, at least 1.5million soldiers and civilians died while in Allied captivity.
