Ekiti govt. to construct 6 public toilets The Ekiti Government has given approval for the construction of six public toilets in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital. Mr Tunji Balogun, the Director of Sanitation and Environment in the Ministry of Environment, said this in an interview in Ado-Ekiti. According to him, the initiative is aimed at discouraging open defecation in public places in the metropolis. ``The present administration has approved the construction of six public toilets in Ado-Ekiti. ``When the toilets are completed, indiscriminate defecation in open places in the capital city will reduce,’’ he said. ``Beneficiaries will enjoy the facilities at an affordable amount that will be used in maintaining public utilities.’’ Balogun said the toilets would be located in Odo-Ado, Mojere market, Okela area, Bank Road while two would be in Atikankan area. He said similar toilets would be built in the 16 local government headquarters in the state.
