Election Day is next Tuesday. There are important issues that will be on the ballot. The Superintendents Referendum that if Walton County votes yes, will change the elected status and raise the bar for the leader of our school system. We are also voting on School Board members and Commissioners. The Walton County Educators Association endorsing the following: Board Members- Sharon Roberts, Darrell Barnhill, and Faye Leddon. We are also endorsing Danny Glidewell for Commissioner. This past year, the teachers struggled to get the well deserved raise, after 7 years without one and the parents/community heard the plea and supported the teachers, which in turn helps the students. I ask that everyone go out and vote. This election is very important to the teachers. If a citizen ever wants to know what goes on behind the scenes in the school, ask a teacher. There are so many negative comments being made about teachers from our government to our local areas, but Walton County has the most dedicated teachers and work very long hours and take work home to make sure their students get the best education. We are an A county for a reason.
