But even speculatory chit chat of its designs on Kashmir is enough to deflate theorists who believe that boycotting elections is not a sound political option. In a BJP government, one actually sees the nemesis of a long line of pro-election Kashmiri politicians, journalists and intellectuals. They fear that a BJP government would tear away the remaining pages of the state’s so-called own constitution and destroy the remnants of its so-called autonomy. But isn’t it a fact that in doing so, the BJP would only be accomplishing in one go what our own Abdullahs, Bakhshis and Sadiqs and, of late, Muftis have been doing piecemeal?
