Elk Ridge Boys Close “Friday Night 2014 Season” at Bluff Fort The Elk Ridge Boys have become well known for their ‘unpolished’ musical performance and humor and for catering steak, chicken and Dutch oven potato dinners for reunions and other community gatherings large and small. The Elk Ridge Boys have been performing their unique blend of vocal selections since the spring of 1989 when Monty Black asked Craig Halls about a former group known as the Uncalled Four, of which Craig had been a member. Craig and Monty recruited Carl Hunt, Worth Glover and Joe B. Lyman and formed a ‘five man’ quartet that became the Elk Ridge Boys along with their accompanist Carma Bennett. The group liked the flexibility of a five man quartet so not long after Monty left to pursue his teaching degree they invited John Housekeeper to join them. Some years later John moved away the fifth spot has not been refilled. At any Elk Ridge Boys event you will be treated to a variety of selections including Doo-Wop, Rock and Country music from the 50’s through today. You never know what to expect next – sometimes neither do they. The group has been accompanied by Carma Bennett, Carol Richmond, and their current accompanist Gina Shumway, as well as, other notable and talented accompanists including Franci Housekeeper, Ann Bayles, Kelli Christensen, Jody Fellmeth and Christina Guymon. Friday Night’s performance promises to be outstanding. For an evening of fun and entertainment help us end the 2014 season of Friday Nights at Bluff Fort.
