Ellen Taber Memorial Gathering Dear Campus Community, On April 27, Professor Ellen Lyle Taber, who was a cherished member of the English Department for more than 10 years, passed away suddenly while visiting relatives. Ellen was well known across campus for her kindness, her energy, and her passion for students and teaching; in particular, she was a champion for both student athletes and for first-year students. Ellen was also a prolific author, and in 2010, she and a co-author won the Georgia Writer of the Year Award for Creative Non-Fiction for their book, Tybee Days: One Hundred Years on Georgias Playground Island. The English Department invites anyone who knew Ellen to join us for a memorial gathering on Monday, May 12th at Marlows Tavern from 3-5. Please feel welcome to join us as we remember and mourn such a lovely colleague in the way Ellen would appreciate most -- laughter, good conversation, and time together.
