Ellie Update #29: Well, they say that no news is good news and I can attest to that today. Ellie continues to do well since my last posting and is bright eyed, alert, mooching food when she can, and wagging tail always. We are now in quite the routine -- up at 5:30 AM out to potty, Medication slurry to coat her stomach at 6:00 AM; breakfast and other meds at 7:00 AM/out again; napping until 9:00 AM when another dose of meds/out again; more naps/out as needed; 2:00 PM - medication slurry; 3:00 lunch and more meds/out. Then we just hang out until 8:00 PM when its time for dinner/meds and a trip outside; 10 PM - medication slurry/out as needed; 11 PM final meds/out. Then we stay up until 12:30 or so with a final trip outside and then to bed for the night. She has been sleeping through the night since the Prednisone has been reduced, which is a blessing for both of us. I am still sleeping downstairs on the sofa next to her, though, to be sure. Ellie has been really good about taking her meds and Ive been mixing the administration up by putting the meds in wet dog food meatballs, peanut butter; pieces of hamburger bun; and inside pieces of cooked sausage links. Today, I go to the grocery store to get bananas to use those next, just to mix it up a bit. Tomorrow at noon, we head to Med vet for a Complete Blood Count (CBC) and blood chemistry panel. Fingers crossed that the numbers are up and where they should be. I am praying and thinking that will be the case since Ive seen no blood trace in her stool and her gums and tongue are really pink.(I think she gets her surgical sutures out next week but we shall see what they say tomorrow.) The only concern I have is that Ellie is still having some trouble getting up off the kitchen floor, which she never used to do prior to last weeks scare. But as Lee said, that may be due to the slippery tile because she gets up easily when on the carpet. So will probably invest in some indoor/outdoor mats for the kitchen to make that easier for her. So, that is the scoop on our girl for now. As always, we are grateful and thankful for all your support, inquiries, well wishes, and love. Ellie and we say: You are the BEST!
