Elvis Presley would have turned 80 today. He was huge while he was living but even bigger in death. He has been dead almost as long as he was living. Elvis was a great singer but I never thought his movies were any good or that he was all that interesting as a person. Great singer and a great influence of the second generation of rock stars including The Beatles. My Mount Rushmore of Thoughts on Elvis:- Great read- the two volume biography on Elvis by Peter Guralnick. What a sad story his life was/ When John Lennon was given the news while in Japan that Elvis was dead his response was Elvis died when he joined the Army- I tend to agree/ When I heard Elvis had died my thought was Well, he was old what can you expect? He had a full life Now I realize at age 42 he was just a kid./ If you are ever in Memphis [I love Memphis} Graceland is worth a visit but also go to Sun Studio-where Elvis and Rock and Roll all began. I have been to Graceland once, Ive been to Sun Studio four times.
