Embrace With Arms Of Love! Some years back coffee was a real cash crop in the North West region of Cameroon. In those days my people composed a song which said that when coffee is ripe people gather around you, but when the coffee season is over, they disappear from your sight. What they meant was that wealth and high status attracts fair weather friends who vanish into thin air when the going gets rough. Many are those who flocked around Jesus and when he uttered some hard words, it was a bitter pill to swallow and John tells us that from this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him. Jesus consolation now was only the twelve so he turned to them and asked: You do not want to leave too, do you? Simon the Masa Toktok as usual spoke on behalf of the group: Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God. Then Jesus told them that he chose the twelve of them, but one of them was a devil(John 6 : 61-70). My friend, Jesus is constantly aware of fair weather friends soon to fall away, close aides who are wolves in sheeps clothing and those who believe in what he stands for, yet he embraces all of them with arms of love! Let us emulate his example and do likewise always! Peace be with you.
