Emelia Afi Agblevor just drew my attention to the fact that your beloved leaders have designated parts of Northern Ghana as trial grounds for genetic modified organisms. Now, what specific infrastructure has been put in place in Ghana for our research institutions to lead in the biotech area for which reason we are jumping ahead to pass laws for GMOs? Is this in response to any demands by our agro or food industry? Are there any biotech startups in Ghana? What kind of intellectual property is Ghana generating in biotech that this and related policies will support? Have we passed any policies to advance bamboo research for our dying furniture companies? Who are our politicians and bureaucrats really hoping to support with these raft of policies? But why blame the leaders? Look at the kind of followers they have got, even on this platform. There isnt a mess these followers ever saw that they didnt think smelt like aubergine stew with a sprinkling of nutmeg. We deserve everything we get. #LateAfternoonRant
