Eminent Intellectuals from diverse fields have lauded the efforts made by Naveen Patnaik Government to scale up Odisha to new heights in the field of Economic and social empowerment. Leading Members of an elite Think Tank Group, the Capital Foundation Society, New Delhi showered praise on the State Government saying the empowerment of vulnerable groups including Tribal and women has build up confidence among the people of the state on the State Government. Chairman of the Capital Foundation Society, Justice A.K. Patnaik, Chairman, Law Commission of India, Justice A.P. Shah and Ex-Chief Justice of India, Justice R M Lodha were present at the function, apart from many other luminaries in the field of Public Policy They commended the Chief Minister for creating business opportunities and favourable investment climate in the State, which has enabled the State to attract one of the highest investments in the country and achieve consistently higher economic growth rate well above the national average. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik attended the Annual Lecture and the Award Ceremony of the Capital Foundation Society today, at New Delhi. The Society is a think tank of eminent intellectuals from diverse fields. Chief Minister gave the Awards to the distinguished Awardees in recognition of their signal contribution to different fields including Empowerment of Weaker Sections & Gender Justice, Legal Aid & Protection of Human Rights, Environmental Protection & Sustainable Development, Constitutional & Administrative Law, Taxation Laws, Cooperative & Intellectual Property Laws, Entrepreneurial Skills, Hospital Administration and Civil Services. In his address Mr.Patnaik informed the august gathering that for last decade and a half he has put in all efforts to achieve inclusive growth in Odisha by adopting a host of interventions aimed at empowering the poorest and the deprived, particularly women and tribals. During this period, the State Government has focused on fulfilling the Right to Livelihood, Right to Education and ensuring Social Safety Net for the marginalized. Schemes such as the Odisha Tribal Empowerment & Livelihood Programme, Jeebika – Odisha Rural Livelihood Programme, Biju Gram Jyoti Yojana for illuminating villages, Biju KBK Plan for development of tribal dominated districts, Mission Shakti for empowering women through Self Help Groups and Mamata – a Safe Motherhood & Healthy Child initiative, have helped in achieving inclusive economic growth and sustainable development in the State. Chief Minister expressed that while our strong and stable Legislature, independent Judiciary and an active Executive are working in tandem to take the country forward, our free, unbiased and alert Media along with a strong Civil Society provide the appropriate oversight mechanism on governance, thereby imparting a unique vibrancy to democracy in India.
