Employment OpportunityRichmond City Centre Community Association – Youth DevelopmentCity Centre Homework Club – Program Leaders Applications are now being accepted for the Homework Club Program Leader positions working with Richmond City Centre Community Association – Youth Development’s Homework Club. Under the direct supervision of the Youth Development Coordinator, successful candidates will be responsible to assist in the implementing City Centre Homework Club at Cook Elementary. The program is funded by Coast Capital Savings’ Community Investment Grant. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Under the direct supervision of Youth Development Coordinator, Program Leaders will be responsible for but not limited to: · Implement, lead and supervise City Centre Homework Club at Cook Elementary school · Facilitate positive, healthy and supportive interactions between youth volunteers and program participants · Advocate program philosophy, establish necessary program norms/boundaries while promote the 40 Development Assets · Follow risk assessment/management protocols and address conflicts/concerns as they arise · Model, practice, enforce and advocate program philosophy and purpose driven leadership REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Required qualifications are minimized to encourage ex-volunteer/staff to apply; however, if and once the position is open to general public, required qualifications will be upgrade. Required qualifications are: · Graduated from high school and is currently in pursue of a post secondary education certificate, diploma, or degree or, with the permission of Youth Development Coordinator, currently attending high school but able to arrive on site on time and demonstrates exceptional leadership and supervisory skill · Successful candidate will be required to complete and pass Criminal Record Check · Minimum 6 month or 60 hours of combined volunteer/work experience in program supervision, volunteer leadership and/or homework club experience PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS · More then one school year’s of experience volunteering or working for City Centre Homework Club · Previously served as a City Centre Youth Council Member for a full school year term · Possesses extensive experience working with children, youth, volunteers and community centres · Able to demonstrate commitment for the complete school year 2013-2014 · Possesses a valid first aid certificate (Occupational First Aid level 1, Standard First Aid, Emergency First Aid or higher) HOURS OF WORK The pay rate is $13.41/hr plus 4% holiday day pay. Two Program Leaders are needed per shift.
