Encouragement towards Righteousness (effacing minor sins) #12 DEALING LENIENTLY WITH THE PEOPLE IN WORLDLY MATTERS: Jaabir bin `Abdullaah رضي الله عنهما narrated that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لِرَجُلٍ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ كَانَ سَهْلاً إِذَا بَاعَ سَهْلاً إِذَا اشْتَرَى سَهْلاً إِذَا اقْتَضَى "Allaah forgave a man who lived before you because he was mild when selling, mild when buying and mild when demanding repayment." [Sunan al-Tirmidhee (1320) and graded as "Saheeh" by Shaikh al-Albaanee] In the narration from al-Bukhaaree on the authority of Jaabir bin `Abdullaah رضي الله عنهما that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: رَحِمَ اللَّهُ رَجُلاً سَمْحًا إِذَا بَاعَ، وَإِذَا اشْتَرَى، وَإِذَا اقْتَضَى "Allaah’s Mercy be on him who is lenient in his buying, selling, and demanding back his money." [Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (2076)]
