Endangered Sea Turtle to Be Released! On April 27th, an endangered juvenile Kemp’s Ridley sea turtle was transferred to Gulf World Marine Institute (GWMI) due to a fishery interaction. This animal has been reported by fishermen at a local pier. Upon physical examination there were no obvious signs of fishing gear or foreign body ingestion. Since there were no obvious internal abnormalities the animal was approved for release by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. We will release this sea turtle on Thursday, May 8th at 2:00p.m. (central time). The release site will be approximately 4 miles west of Gulf World Marine Park on Front Beach Road near the Sunnyside street marker.
