Enel Green Power North America is applying to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for relicensing of three dams on the Saluda River in Anderson County. Please take just a few minutes to submit a comment in support of our request that Enel add portage facilities for recreational boaters to get around these dams. Comments are due to FERC on Friday. How to comment: Go to https://ferconline.ferc.gov/QuickComment.aspx and fill out the short online form. You will then receive an email with a link to a page where you can submit comments. You will need the docket numbers of the three dam projects: P-2428-004 P-10253-027 P-10254-023 More information: Anderson County’s current Saluda River Blueway Plan focuses on a 48-mile section of the Saluda that encompasses the three dams under consideration for relicensing and provides plans for potentially suitable portages. The lack of safe passage around the dams has been a major hindrance to recreation on the Saluda River for over 100 years. Enel has the opportunity to remedy this impact by studying, designing, and installing portages around the Piedmont, Upper Pelzer, and Lower Pelzer dams. These efforts would be complemented by the work of the surrounding communities, which would streamline time and costs requirements. Restoring river connectivity for recreation and will be a major boost to local residents.
