Engage your brain and think critically - realize that words have meaning and convey thoughts and philosophies. Realize that the Declaration of Independence created this nation and laid out our beliefs in government, rights, liberty, etc. Realize that each word our founders wrote and spoke were authored to convey a very specific thought. This is what I just wrote on another thread with respect to the phrase "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness:" "if you read the Declaration of Independence, from where those words and that philosophy come, it is not an inclusive list. We are endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights, and AMONG those are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness - AMONG those rights. We have others and it is up to use to assert them, to demand them, and then to protect them."
