Engineer Paul Lunn has won praise for helping an elderly customer return to his mobile home after it was damaged by flood water. Paul, who’s based in Chertsey, found the 82-year-old customer was feeling neglected by his insurance company. Evacuated to a hotel, the customer was desperate to get back into his own home, which had been badly affected by the recent floods. With the guidance and support of his service manager Graham Woodison, Paul began work to get the customer back into his home. The problem was a leak on a heating pipe underneath the mobile home to which access was tight, over contaminated ground. After a thorough risk assessment, Paul teamed up with his lead engineer to complete the repair. They placed plastic sheeting en route to the leaking pipe, and Paul put on a disposable boiler suit, gloves and hard hat. He crawled under the customer’s mobile home and, while the lead engineer held the pipe inside the property, he repaired the leak. They refilled the system and got it up and running again, leaving the customer with a delighted smile.“Paul acted with a wise old head on young shoulders and was a credit to the company,” said Graham. “Im sure in the weeks to come there will be many more customers who will need our help and it has filled me with confidence that I have a resource like Paul who I can rely on to have a can-do attitude. Above all, he did it without a moan and a groan, and stayed safe as well.”
