Entering divine nature Genesis 17:10,11 This is my covenant with you and your descendants after you, the covenant you are to keep: Every male among you shall be circumcised. You are to undergo circumcision, and it will be the SIGN of the covenant between me and you. Why would God give Abraham the sign of circumcision? Remember Abraham had to circumcise every male as a sign of the covenant he had with God; this was his role in the agreement. Why the sign of circumcision? The covenant is between God and men. We all know according to John 4:24 that God is Spirit. Now because we are entering a covenant with God who is Spirit we need to loose some of our nature, carnality in order to share in His divine nature. Because the covenant is the coming together and agreement between two we see God also losing part of his divine nature to share in our humanity. My God!!! We see Jesus giving up on his divine nature in order to share in our humanity (Philippians 2:6-11). If Jesus had not received this human nature he could not have died or fulfilled his side of the contract.. The matter as you see was not merely about circumcising as we could have explained in simple terms or general life. No! It was a SIGN of covenant that was entering Abraham into a spiritual reality or divine nature. So yes God is spirit and coming into covenant with him means losing some part of our human nature and be spiritual just as he is! Hallelujah!! and God is fair he plays his part by also entering our nature (as mentioned above) to fulfil his side of the contract. Paul explains this better, he says that the sign of circumcision was actually a SEAL OF THE RIGHTEOUSNESS THAT ABRAHAM HAD BY FAITH! (Romans 4:11). The circumcision was in the flesh, it was a removing of some part of the flesh on one hand and a seal- a stamp, mark, symbol of the righteousness that Abraham had faith on the other. #We are made righteous by faith. Faith is for the righteous; the spiritual not carnally minded. Its being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see- in the natural (Hebrews 11:1). Abraham believed the Lord even though there was nothing in the natural to see regarding his promises. He was functioning in divine and not natural nature. James 2:18 ...I WILL SHOW YOU MY FAITH BY WHAT I DO. How do I know for sure that I will receive all that promises that the Lord has given me? I know because I have FAITH and my faith is not dead. No! It has actions (my role in the covenant). This enables me to share in the Lords divine nature. #IAmWoman Foundations #ThePowerOfCovenant #OurGodIsAGodOfConvenant #SharingInDivineNature #PromisesComingByFaith
