Entry-Level New York City The ideal candidate will be well versed in photojournalism, reportage and editorial photography and poses a keen sense of and interest in documentary storytelling. You will have extensive experience researching photography from both domestic and international photo agencies as well as wires services and will have a strong understanding of current events and the news. You will be responsible for researching and editing photography for articles, features and photo essays, under the guidance of the Director of Photography. Must have strong understanding of photo copyright and negotiating rights usage and clearance. Must be able to work well under tight deadlines and breaking news. Qualifications: A BA degree, particularly in Photojournalism/Documentary Photography, Journalism, History, Humanities, Political Science or other discipline emphasizing photographic storytelling and multimedia creation, is required. Strong candidates with equivalent experience and education may be considered. Minimum 1 years experience as a picture researcher or associate level photo editor at leading publication(s) . Deadline research, editing, picture editing from wires, archives, deep understanding of photo copyright and negotiation for rights and clearances. Quick technology learner with demonstrated proficiency in photo editing software, digital asset management systems for online photos and content management systems for publishing multimedia content.
