Eph 3:4 By referring to this, when you read you can understand my insight into the mystery of Christ, Eph 3:5 which in other generations was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed to His holy apostles and prophets in the Spirit; Eph 3:6 to be specific, that the Gentiles are fellow heirs and fellow members of the body, and fellow partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel, Paul’s “insight into the mystery of Christ” is evident to the Ephesians in what he is writing that the Gentiles are included along with the Jews in all that the gospel promises. The mystery concerning Christ is that this had not been known previously but was now revealed. Eph 3:8 To me, the very least of all saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unfathomable riches of Christ, “Unfathomable” can be said to be something “which cannot be traced out”. It is just too big, too grand and too wonderful for us to really grasp all that the “riches of Christ” encompasses. It is just beyond our ability to measure. With such riches it is something into which I will joyfully get swallowed up. Eph 3:10 so that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places. Sometimes it is helpful to take the English word “manifold” and split it up to “mani - fold”. Something that has many parts, is complex and with many sides to it. In a metaphorical sense it has a great variety of colors. This multi faceted wisdom of God that is to be made through the church is quite a responsibility on our part. Is the church actively doing this by spreading the word, loving one another, loving our neighbors, loving our enemies and generally living as Christ would have us do or by being an example of all this? I do not see how you can separate the two. Actively doing something is being an example and to be an example you must be actively doing it. And to whom is this aimed? Some say it is the “good angels” and some say to the “bad angels”. I am not sure by maybe it is for both. Eph 3:17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, Eph 3:18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, Eph 3:19 and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God. Some say that “breadth, length, height and depth” refer to God’s love others go for a broader understanding which would include salvation, maybe His wisdom, and all that God is. Okay God’s love is so vast that it could be what is being described or could it be Paul is talking about Christ dwelling in our hearts through faith? It is not overly clear to what specific it refers but it is clear that Christ dwelling in our hearts, knowing God, His wisdom and all that He is, definitely is the three dimensional (breadth, length, height and depth) display of His love.
