Ephesians 1:10-12 NASB “…In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will, to the end that we who were the first to hope in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.” The word ‘predestined’ can be difficult to reckon with if it is not seen in the context where it is used. Context is king when it comes to understanding the meaning of what we read. It this passage it’s all about ‘In Him’. God is causing all things to work for good for his children in order to conform them to the image of Christ. He predestined that this would happen to those who are in Christ. When God’s children are conformed to the image of Christ, He is revealed and His glory will be praised. As a Child of God you are destined to be conformed to His image. Everything your innermost being longs for will be realized as the Father completes the good work He has begun in you. Becoming increasingly conformed to Him makes us more Christ-like as husbands, wives, mothers, fathers, employers, employees, neighbors and citizens. Romans 8:28-29 “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the first-born among many brethren.”
