EpicGenetics is a United States government CLIA and State of California certified and licensed laboratory. It is also CAP (College of American Pathologists) accredited, which requires the most rigorous and prestigious laboratory accreditation process that presently exists in the world. Only slightly over 7000 laboratories in 50 countries have been able to achieve CAP accreditation. EpicGenetics specializes in the development of diagnostic tests. Presently, it includes tests regarding the diagnosis of fibromyalgia(FM), asthma, chronic lead poisoning, benzene-related health effects and hexavalent chromium-related health effects. All of our tests were developed in conjunction with researchers at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago, the University of California at Los Angeles(UCLA) and the Harvard School of Public Health in Boston. All of our tests have been published in peer-reviewed medical journals. Our fibromyalgia test(FM/a) was developed over several years. It is currently based upon the testing of hundreds of patients with FM and comparing their immune system functioning to the immune system processes in healthy people. It consists of analyzing components of the body’s immune system via a blood sample of less than 2/3 of an ounce of blood. The results are provided in usually one week or less. The FM/a test is the derivative of two peer-reviewed medical publications. The first was the result of laboratory findings at the Department of Pathology at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago under the direction of its Head, Professor Frederick Behm. When these findings were announced, they won the prestigious award for “Outstanding Research” in Immunology from the American College for Clinical Chemistry(AACC), which is the leading laboratory organization in the world. The associated publication can be read at: The FM/a test methodology was reproduced in a recently published peer-reviewed study by Professor Daniel Wallace of UCLA, a world-renown rheumatologist. In this study of nearly 500 patients, the test methodology was also compared to patients who had other rheumatic disorders, including rheumatoid arthritis(RA) and systemic lupus eryhtematosus(SLE). Professor Wallace has published extensively in FM, including being an editor of two FM-related medical textbooks. This set of findings can be read at: The FM/a test has uncovered that there is unique immune system dysfunctioning in FM patients. These immune system abnormalities are able to be quantified and they are the basis of a test score. The test has a sensitivity of 93%. No test reaches 100%. For a frame of reference, the rheumatoid factor test for rheumatoid arthritis has a reported sensitivity of 30-50% and tests for detecting HIV have a sensitivity of 90-99%. Additional information regarding the FM/a test is available at our website, thefibromyalgiatest.
