Equatorial Guinea and Burkina Faso draw without goals Kwame Boakye | 19:01 | 21.01.2015 Equatorial Guinea and Burkina Faso play out a 0:0 draw in their second group game for AFCON 2015 The 2015 African Cup of Nations had seen all its participating teams play prior to host nation Equatorial Guinea taking on Burkina Faso. So it a fair verdict to give when one admits, this wasn’t good enough. With the standings in Group A, both teams had to be well motivated to put in a performance just by looking at the table. That wasn’t the case. For Equatorial Guinea playing in front of home fans as the host nation, it is very poor to note that the players might have as well not turn up in some portions of the game. Burkina Faso were also not that side that had played with such confidence and precision in the qualifying games. Both sides started the game with much caution. Burkina Faso were the side to grow into the game pressing but their poor finish in front of goal meant Equatorial Guinea had little to trouble them in defence. A series of poor shots, mistimed passes and non-ambitious runs, the first half flew by as both sides went into the first half interval with a goal. The second half was more of Burkina Faso taking Equatorial Guinea on with runs from their forward showing some improvement. The final balls however were massively wasted as both teams tired out. Equatorial Guinea did have their moments in the second half which were also hampered by indecisive passes that could have yielded a much better results. Flashes of shots across goals were seen, goalkeepers did make saves, managers did try to find a way with some changes on the pitch but at the end of 90 minutes plus additional minutes of football, it wasn’t meant to be for both sides. Equatorial Guinea 0:0 Burkina Faso, the final score line.
