Erie Firefighters from the 2nd Platoon responded to Trawkas market, 712 Payne Ave., this morning around 6:30 for an automatic alarm. Upon arrival, Engine Company 8 found smoke showing from the rear of the long time Erie business. Deputy Chief 322 called for more companies to respond to the scene. The fire started in a smoker unit in a back room of the store. Engine 8 was able to make a quick knockdown and contain the damage to the room of origin. Tower 2 ventilated the smoke from the structure upon arrival. Engines 13, 11, and 12 were also dispatched to the scene. No injuries were reported and thankfully this Erie institution was saved. Great work to the 2nd Platoon, sausage sandwiches all around!
