Escape the sun... La Scala Theatre. There is so much to see and do that it takes several visits before I notice a bright red Morgan sports car outside the sports bar. It was here, while I was aiming to find the 1950s-style American diner Johnny Rockets for a burger — while strolling past the Pig and Whistle pub, the cafe with homemade cakes, the Ben and Jerry’s ice-cream stand — that I lost my bearings. But getting lost on this ship is bound to take you somewhere interesting. In this case, I ended up at the ice-skating rink. It sounds gimmicky but the ice rink is actually quite cool (so to speak) either for a dash around the ice or to watch the ice-skating shows from the surrounding 900-seat auditorium. While the Royal Promenade might be the indoor heart of the ship, the outdoor heart is the main midship pool deck, with two pools and four whirlpools surrounded by layers of sun decks, bars and usually a band.
