Euan McDonald: DPR deny involvement in Malaysian plane crash in Ukraine Moscow, July 17 (Interfax) - The leaders of the self-proclaimed Donetsk Peoples Republic (DPR) have denied their involvement in an attack which caused a Malaysian Airlines jet with 295 people on board to crash near the village of Torez. The plane was shot down by the Ukrainian side. We simply do not have such air defense systems, our MANPADs have a firing range of only 3,000 to 4,000 meters, passenger jets fly at a much higher altitude, DPR prime ministers special representative and security council member Serhiy Kavtaradze told Interfax. Kavtaradze expressed condolences on behalf of the DPR leaders to the victims families. It is obvious that people died. This is very dreadful news. On behalf of the republics leaders I express my condolences to the victims and their families, he said.
