Europe. The EEC was founded with the best of motives, and ones - TopicsExpress

Europe. The EEC was founded with the best of motives, and ones that we share. The first of these, to prevent another war in Europe especially. To this end the founders set out to eliminate harmful rivalries within Europe and especially between France and Germany. Britain would have been included had we been amenable to joining. There was no indication that the Common Market, as it was then, would intrude so deeply in the internal affairs of member states. Over time the organization has grown and is now encroaching on more and more in the day-to-day lives of European citizens. The latest proposal is a common annual vehicle test (MOT). Laudable as MOT type tests are vehicle defects contribute to a tiny percentage of accidents. Yet Europe wants to set up a draconian system to impose stricter tests on us. There is much debate about whether Britain would be better off in the EU or out of it. In either case the EU needs radical reform and controls put on its powers. On point generally overlooked is that membership of the E.U. is unconstitutional. We must therefore withdraw from full membership of the E.U. We should also revisit all legislation enacted to meet E.U./E.C. requirements. This is not to say that we would not honour trading agreements with Europe. But the fundamental factor must be that all legislation governing Britain MUST be made in Britain. This, of course, requires that we develop good governance in Britain.
