Evansville will be the site of a new , railroad corridor and station platforms. There will be several, new tracks, laid down between main & water streets . Also, there will be one new track , parallel to the original, between main & madison streets. It will join up with a side track, located in-place behind the swimming pool .The location of the old concrete viaduct , adjacent to the skate park at Lake Leota, (demolished in 1989)will be the new Evansville Depot. The design , as it appears to me , will allow for very little road closure time on Main , Madison, & Water streets. There will need to be new tracks put in the streets . Each of them, will get a new set of lights, and gates . Most of the old signal wiring is still in place, buried in the ground since the CTC was shut off in roughly 1990 . There will be a new ,modern signal system put in, to manage train traffic over the line . Idle locomotives & passenger cars ,will be serviced and stored on new trackage ; just like it used to be. Fifty years ago, somebody could still ride the train through/from Evansville ; to Madison, Janesville, Chicago & beyond . Our railroad currently, is very much mistreated and left to decompose .It is in very sad shape. Nobody yet, has so much as cared to mention this issue. Most people are unaware of the 50+ trains a day we saw in Evansville back then.
