Even wild horses get long feet . Not quite the ideal 1/3 2/3 ratio used for barefoot trim theories. This one is pretty much toast . All horses are individuals and dont always fit into what we think things should look like. Sometimes I try to explain this to people who think natural is best ... is it best in this case? Probably. As hard as it is to look at this sort of thing has probably happened since before humans were upright. Natural selection will cull this one out but in an unnatural domestication of equines and then saying natural is best we are actually playing God. Not letting nature take its course. People are born naked. How many people do you see running around naked or go without without shoes for that matter? Not saying horses cant go barefooted but their roles have changed since man got the damn dirty paws on them , thats my Charlton Hesston quote from the original Planet of the Apes ;) We as humans want natural but we keep breeding horses that would have been culled out naturally. We put saddles and bridles on that are unnatural as hell but its not ok to put protection wear on the bottom ? People blanket their horses in the winter up in my country how natural is that ? Just something to ponder when we start talking natural. Can we have our cake and eat it too? This is stuff that trots through my mind as Im working underneath horses , kinda my place of meditation . ;)
