Evening people, just a quick catch up as we have had a few shouts over the past few days. Luckily not anything serious and due to the weather conditions surprisingly no accidents, which can only mean that you guys are driving safely. :) On Friday morning at 9:08 Buckfastleigh (V22P1) was called to reports to a fire in the open at Lower Town Farm, Poundsgate. Upon arrival crews found that an 11000V power line had come down and has set fire to a tree. Western power had to isolate the supply before crews could make the smouldering tree safe. On Friday Evening at 9.55 Buckfastleigh (V22P1) and both appliances from Totnes ( V31P1 & V31P2 ) war called to reports of a building fire at Sandwell Barn, Harberton, Totnes. On arrival fire crews confirmed small fire involving the wood panelling in a sauna room measuring six metres by three metres within a barn conversion. The heater for the sauna was fired from a wood burning stove. The fire was extinguished by fire crews using two breathing apparatus wearers, one hose reel jet, lighting, a thermal image camera and small tools to cut away hot spots. The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental. On Saturday morning at 11:08 Buckfastleigh ( V22P1) were call to an automatic fire alarm at the Coop, Buckfastleigh. Crews were met by staff and were notified that it was a system fault and after a check returned home station. Later that day at 15:57 Buckfastleigh ( V22P1 ) were called to Hayford Hall, Buckfastleigh to reports of a chimney fire. Upon arrival crews found that the chimney was well alight and got to work on putting out the fire. Luckily for the crews there was an inspection hatch on the outside of the building and were able to use small tools and chimney gear to extinguish the fire with relative ease. And finally this morning at 9:45 Buckfastleigh ( V22P1 ), Ashburton ( V19P1 ) and Ivybridge ( V53P1 ) were call to reports of a building fire at Windward Court Residential Home, South Brent. Upon arrival crews were met by staff notifying that there had indeed been a small fire in one of the treatment rooms involving a stand alone hair dryer but was now out. After a check over of the scene crews decided to use a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear any toxic gases that remained in the room.
