Forget pancakes, you want potato latkes stacked with cream cheese, poached eggs, bacon (or halloumi!) and pickled red onion. 5 Gerard’s Bistro | Fortitude Valley | Bacon and eggs with a difference. A far cry from the box of cold leftovers your fridge, this pizza is hot, topped with spinach, roasted tomato relish, bacon, fried egg, chorizo and cheese and the best thing for sore heads on a Sunday morning. 48 The Paleo Café | Various locations | BBQ pulled pork. How can something so tasty be good for us? We’ll never know, but we’ll be content scoffing down smokey pork served on golden sweet potato and cauliflower hash with baby spinach, savoury paleo bread and poached eggs. 49 Shady Palms | Greenslopes | Death benedict. We didn’t think eggs benny could be improved until we tried this pulled pork version with smoked ham, maple bacon, collard greens, poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. Turns out they can. 50 Plenty | West End | Peach French toast. There’s plenty to choose from on the Plenty menu, but it’s the stuffed peach French toast with raspberry curd and mascarpone that’s won our hearts. 51 Irving Place | CBD | Gin cured salmon. It was hard to choose one dish, but the gin won us over to this salmon brekky with asparagus, poached egg, herbed ricotta and carrot jam. 52 South Side Diner | South Bank | Violet Crumble pancakes. With honeycomb, chocolate sauce and Canadian maple syrup, these pancakes will send you into a welcome sugar coma. Sleep in a while though, ‘coz these guys don’t open until 10.30am. 53 Riverbar and Kitchen | CBD | Shared breakfast. Finally, someone has figured out that share plates shouldn’t be limited to lunch and dinner. Grab a few friends and take ‘em out for a brekky feast!
