Ever since Christmas we have had about four wrapped Christmas presents stacked by our front door. Gifts for others that I havent had the chance to give. Brody has never tampered with them in any way. Even though theyre in plain sight. In fact, to this day he has never opened or shown any interest in any present, EVER. (I.e birthdays, and christmas) Im assuming this is because in autism, imagination is typically absent. Believing in things unseen, or having excitement for something that one cannot see or touch is usually not the case. This has been the case for my Brody. This morning Brody picked one of the presents up, and piece by piece he tore open the wrapping paper! It was like he knew there was going to be something underneath! Isaac and I stood in awe, speechless. When we got home from church he went back to the same stack of presents and opened, yet another! That was break through #1. Tonight he also waved, hi to me and his daddy! He did this four times when we waved to him. He WAVED BACK! This is the first time he has done this since he was 15 months old. These may seem small, but they are huge breakthroughs. Day by day, layer by layer Im seeing Gods hand on my little boy.
