Every American, no matter his or her age or health status, should discuss end-of-life care preferences with family members, health care agents, and care providers. The course of injury or illness cannot be predicted, and preferences may change, so it is important to have the conversation often. November is Hospice and Palliative Care Month, which is meant to not only bring awareness of these important services, but encourage all people to learn more about options of care and to share their wishes with family, loved ones, and their healthcare professionals.
