Every Friday, 3rd - 6th grade students are provided with an opportunity to attend Juma prayers here on campus. Friday prayers provide a forum for our students to learn the adab of salah, hear stories of the Prophets and develop their Islamic character. Each week, we are honored to host a guest khateeb from the local community, New Horizon Irvine fathers, and alumni. Today we were blessed to host Mr. Ahmad Salem, a New Horizon School, Irvine parent as our guest khateeb. Mr. Salem spoke to our students about the importance of the pen in Islam by sharing the beauty of calligraphy as the art of the Arabic language. An inspirational vibe was sent through the room as he introduced a wide representation of the many cultures that continue to depict the beauty of Islamic Art today. One of the many artists introduced was a childhood friend, Farhad Fazli, who demonstrated the wonders of this art and generously gifted the third through sixth grade classes with beautiful works of his own. Just as Farhad once inspired Ahmad to learn about the beauties of calligraphy, they both passed on the excitement to our students. Thank you to Mr. Ahmad Salem and Mr. Farhad Fazli for sharing the beauty of Islamic Art with our school.
