Every Veterans Day, its hard not to be overwhelmed with sadness and anger over the senseless death that war brings, both for those armed and trained youth, and those who are unfortunate enough to live in the war zone. It would be easy to direct this anger at the other, our enemy, but only if it is believed that war is inevitable and other peoples lives are expendable. Instead, I think about the many people who have devoted their lives to working for peace, and fighting for justice with nonviolent strength. I also honor the veterans who are brave enough to criticize their own government and question the motives of war. Peace happens at every level, on every scale. It is always possible, but it is often the more difficult path.
