My husband and I did the behind the scenes and feeding tour, and it was WELL worth the money. Our tour began with a trip to where the food is stored and a discussion on big cat diet, how the food is acquired and prepared, and how each cats diet is individualized and monitored. I am a domestic cat rescuer, so our awesome tour guide (and sanctuary director) Abbie and I discussed the similarities between wild and domesticated cats diet and disease. We then went on a very educational tour with Natalie (?), where we got to meet several species of large cats and feed several of them raw meat using a trough system to span the 3 protective barrier between the fences. We learned about each cats individual personalities and diets, as well as their backgrounds. After this, we had free time after closing hours to meet the other cats not on the tour and watch the them get fed. I also got to converse with Abbie more about feline diet and disease and domestic cat overpopulation. It was great to learn from such knowledgeable staff and to see the cats being so well cared for. None of them have to share a habitat; each cat has their own free roaming space to run and play. They are only put in their enclosures long enough for the staff to clean their habitats. There are also rescue dogs and cats on the property (the office cat was loving all the attention). This is a great place to visit! #knowbetterdobetter
