Every good painting has a centre of gravity from which the consciousness of the artist radiates across the canvas, like a force field. When we stand in front of a painting, that is what we are trying to reach. This energy I call deposited meaning. Paintings, which are looked at often, also acquire accumulated meaning, which comes from the energy given out by those who contemplate the paintings.
