Eisenhower — with Abubakari. Eisenhower gave us the paradigm for our much-envied middle class society in which we were, so far as government controlled, safe and happy. We basked in it, but forgot to take care of it, and over the years, one after another administration and congress whittled away at it. Today we are at the end--the far end--of the economy thus created, our economy the most unequal of any first world country, having given away to a small number of ruthless financiers our wealth and then our young to fight and die and seize for the masters more wealth around the world. And our country is in no way ready to try to save itself.
