Every moment of our lives is pregnant with God’s highest and most evolutionary plan for us. Our task is to learn to “align” ourselves with all that God is offering us. The first task in aligning ourselves to God’s will is the practice of prayerful silence. Such silence has the effect of stilling the wild movements of our thinking, willing and imagining…or at least slowing them down. Once a degree of spiritual silence is established, conscious contact with the heavenly realm occurs. With this conscious contact it becomes increasingly possible to “discern” God’s designs for our lives. Traditionally, the ability to discern God’s will was known as conscience. When we move away from God’s purposes our consciences alert us through the experience of pain, discomfort or spiritual pain. When we are in the flow of God’s providence, our consciences inform us by means of interior peace, happiness and joy. Kind of simple, don’t you think
