Every morning when Mat & I sit down for Breakfast I always say that this could be the Best Day Ever! Well let me tell you about another one of those days. We picked up some bagels at Tims this morning on our way to the Winnipeg Jets Fanfest. Mat & I were going to watch the Jets at training camp and we brought along a few hockey cards with hopes of getting a few autographs. We got to the MTS iceplex just before 9:30 and found a seat at the rink. The players entered the rink and practiced for a while. Before practice ended Mat and I decided to walk around and check out the festival. First we ran into Mark Chipman, owner of the Jets who chatted with Mat & I for a few minutes. Then we waited in line to meet former Winnipeg Jet Thomas Steen. After listening to the Jets TV announcer interview the Jets GM we went back into the Iceplex hoping to get a few autos. Success: An autographed Eric Tangradi hockey card. Thanks Eric. Later team Blue walked right by us as they entered the rink for their practice session. Once the practice ended and the last player exited the ice, that was it. One autograph, a Coke, hot dog and a bag of chips. Oh well, not the best day ever but not bad. But wait maybe we should hang around for a bit just in case. So were hanging around and this young lady who works for the Jets walks over with a bag and asks Mat if she can ask him a hockey question. Sure. Name one of the Jets assistant captains this year. With a little help he guesses D-man Mark Stuart and hes right. She says he just won a Jets hat, t-shirt and hoodie. Oh, and an official Jets puck signed by Mark Stuart. For real he says! A few minutes later a couple of Jets appear and we get an autograph on a puck from newcomer Julien Brouillette and young gun Josh Morrissey signs a card and Mats hat. Now were done. The ropes come down, security heads home and the crowd of fans heads for the exit. But we decide to take a walk to the parking lot where the players park. Now the excitement begins. With nobody around but Mat & I a few of the players come out of the building, get into their vehicles and drive off. We watch and wave as Bogosian and the Peluso pass by. Then Mat notices his favorite player Michael Frolik heading to his vehicle. He really wanted this auto and he let Michael know he was there. As Frolik drove by he stopped, rolled down his window and signed Mats hat. Like I said, Best Day Ever, again!
