Every summer we hear at least one tragic death from child overheating in the back of a car when forgotten by a parent. I just received an excellent suggestion from a friend of the page that she had read in her news feed. When someone puts their child in the back seat of the car they should take off one of their own shoes and place it next to the child. When they reach their destination the driver must retrieve his/her shoe from the back seat and this will keep them from forgetting the child is in the car. You might not miss your phone or your purse, but a shoe is one item you would immediately think about. In our busy world, this can happen to even the most diligent parent.
